The Hurst-Holder exponent approach is fasinating as a theoretical framework. The idea of fair volatility as a benchmark is particuarly compelling. I wonder how this would perform in practice during regimes of extreme market stress when path dependence becomes more pronouned. Would be great to see some empirical backtests comparing this to traditional vol measures in different market conditions.
